SW 325: Social Justice Foundations | Dr. ZaDonna Slay
Students were asked to decorate the outside of a small box/container and place 5 items inside that represents their “Culture Chest.” These Culture Chests represent the students’ social identities and how they’ve impacted their worldview and behavior- their race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, ability, religion, social class, nationality, age, size, etc. These items represent the salient aspects of their cultural identities, their personal journeys and histories, and thoughts, opinions, feelings, and questions about social justice in their own lives and in the United States.
PHI 343: Asian Philosophy | Dr. Oliver Leaman
Displayed an exhibit of small but unusual stones, used as objects of aesthetic contemplation in ancient and modern Chinese culture.
ARC 151: Design Studio | Professor Lily Le
These large scales mix media art murals are abstract re-interpretations of iconic works from artists like Picasso, Chirico, Duchamp, Matisse, Diego Rivera, and Michelangelo. The students created the original artists’ piece through contemporary line strokes in acrylic paint, charcoal, markers, etc. Illustrating the expression of each artwork.
ID 421: Design Studio 7 | Professor Erin Alford
These collages represent the students’ conceptual design process of current studio design projects. All works have a digitally printed collage element with 3-dimensional mixed media elements layered over top of the collage.
ARTS 540: Publication Design | Professor Mia Cinelli
Students designed ‘cookbooks’ in a variety of themes, ranging from traditional (cocktails and cupcakes) to new ideas such as ‘recipes for best fishing lure’, ‘recipes from the year 5001’, and ‘recipes inspired by horror films’.

Internships
Art Curation
Each semester, a dedicated curator intern from the UK College of Fine Arts curatorial studies program, manages the exhibit outside of the Harris Ballroom within the Gatton Student Center. The internship and exhibits are supported and supervised by the UK HealthCare Arts in HealthCare program in partnership with the Gatton Student Center, UK College of Fine Arts and the UK School of Art and Visual Studies.
Interior Design
In collaboration with UK College of Design and supported by UK’s Interior Designer, Auxiliary Services created an internship for interior design students interested in the hospitality and residential industry.
